The technical side

Lighting

To photograph a two dimensional canvas, evenness of illumination is crucial to the final reproduction and we create this with four high powered, neutral balanced lighting heads, not two, as in many studios. Our lighting is consistent to an exposure of one tenth of an f-stop across the surface of the canvas, thus eliminating 'hot spots'.

Photo of lighting meterWe use a 100% totally Linear Polarized light (Cross Polarization). All stray light is eliminated, preventing reflections from oils and impasto, giving wonderful saturation to the recorded colours. This skilled technique requires precision throughout, to ensure alignment of polarization for each original piece.
